Welcome
Hallmark Health is committed to providing our communities with the highest level of orthopedic care in the area. We are staffed with high-quality, board-certified orthopedic surgeons and specially trained nurses and therapists that are among the best in the area.
You no longer need to navigate the traffic and parking issues of Boston in order to receive high quality bone & joint care as we offer the same up-to-date techniques right here, close to home, easier for you to access when you already have enough issues just trying to get around.
What sets our program apart
Providing you with easy-to-access locations and the same high quality care you expect to receive in Boston is not the only reason you should come to us for treatment. We have taken the extra steps needed to ensure your care is seamless from start-to finish so you can concentrate on your recovery. We have a dedicated program coordinator there to answer all your questions and help you navigate the entire process. We also have established a Joint Camp that helps you understand
the entire process, giving you and your family the information needed throughout the process to ensure you are on the fastest path to recovery.
Our program has been designated as a Blue Distinction Center for knee and hip replacement. To earn this designation, Melrose-Wakefield Hospital was evaluated based on an objective, evidence-based selection criteria established with input from expert physicians and medical organizations. The goal of the Blue Distinction is to identify medical facilities that deliver better overall quality and medical outcomes for a specific area of specialty care, helping patients and doctors to make more informed hospital choices.
And as a part of Hallmark Health, a premier healthcare system that includes: Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford, Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, Hallmark Health Cancer Center and Hallmark Health Homecare, you can rest assured that you have access to all the services you may need.

Services
The Center for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine offers many services that are unique to our area. Our program is designed with our patients and their families in mind.
Pre-operative Teaching Plans
You will meet one-on-one with your joint coordinator to map out a strategy for your surgical experience. We will coordinate with nursing and anesthesia to get you better prepared for surgery. You will attend Joint Camp and be assigned a joint coach to help you through the process.
Anesthesia Services
We provide the most up-to-date anesthesia techniques available by our highly trained anesthesia department. There are multiple options that involve combinations of both general anesthesia (the patient is completely asleep) and regional anesthesia (which involves injecting the nerves that supply pain to the surgical area to provide pain relief.) The anesthesiologists will decide with you and your surgeon what is the best possible option for you. We provide the latest in pain management techniques in order to put you in control of your discomfort.
Post-operative Care
We have specially trained nurses who will care for you after surgery. We have nationally certified post anesthesia nurses who will monitor you post operatively. We also provide room service type meals where you can call and order what you want, when you want, as long as it is within your dietary plan.
Physical Rehabilitation
We offer a coordinated referral to area Skilled Nursing Rehabilitation Centers in the event that you are not ready to be discharged directly to your home. We have established these referral relationships dependent upon your medical needs and insurance coverage. Our goal is to return you to your previous level of function in your home as soon as possible.
Quality Measure
We are monitoring National Clinical Databases to insure that we are providing top quality care as measured across the country. We are already well above the national average in reducing infection rates. We are constantly monitoring the procedures we have in place in order to maintain our good standing with national accreditation.
Community Outreach
We are constantly striving to keep our communities informed with the most up-to-date medical information available and have many community programs set up on an ongoing basis. If you have a group that would like to become more knowledgeable about orthopedic care, please feel free to contact us directly.
