Hallmark Health System is implementing a policy change, effective immediately regarding any decoration(s) within our facilities that have a latex balloon component to them.
No arrangements or bouquets that contain latex balloons will be accepted at any Hallmark Health System facility, which includes Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, Lawrence Memorial Hospital, and Malden Family Health Center. The people within our community as employees and visitors are do not have their allergy status readily known to those around them. Because the latex proteins become airborne when one of these balloons pops, it could predispose anyone in the vicinity to a potentially dangerous allergic reaction.
Thank you for your contribution to helping us to keep our community safer for our patients and visitors.
